Need

The client required a custom document management solution which would help in easy document uploading for customers within the environment.

Solution

INDUSA’s services included customization to MOSS technology to allow uploading the documents which have special characters in their names. INDUSA executed different activities:

Study the current IT environment to understand the dependency among different systems as it relates to the usage of the MOSS technology. This is to ensure that the design for the custom solution does not interfere with any of these dependencies.

Design and develop a custom document management solution on top of MOSS technology that allows uploading of documents which are now named with special characters. As part of this solution, while uploading the documents to MOSS, INDUSA provided an automated solution which removes these special characters according to the instructions received from the client. All other information about the document name and its content will not be altered by this solution.

MS SharePoint does not allow some of the special characters. Some of these characters are required to be given in file names. Change of name on the fly was implemented at the time of uploading and downloading the files.

INDUSA has also promised one year support in case of any issues within the customization done.
