Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, January 4, 2010: INDUSA Technical Corp., a global player in providing software services and solutions today announced its approach to help address the challenges of climate change by improving energy use. The company monitors its carbon footprint and designs a plan for tracking the footprint periodically and reducing its footprint and spreading awareness among its employees to become a socially responsible entity.
Nandita Nityanandam, Manager Business Development at INDUSA says “We are committed to addressing climate change by acting as good corporate citizens, and INDUSA’s Initiative is a vital part of INDUSA’s global corporate citizenship, sustainability and social responsibility programs. As a technology company, we believe that our footprint goals will be met by leveraging software and technology.”
INDUSA and the IT industry in general have tremendous opportunity to help people and organizations around the planet reduce their energy use and carbon emissions both through dramatically more efficient IT products, and by unlocking the power of IT to enable a more efficient economy through smart grids, smart buildings, telepresence, and more.
INDUSA’s Carbon Footprint Initiative
INDUSA’s Carbon Footprint is 3.34 tons of CO2-eq per person per year. While the average North American generates about 20 tons of CO2-eq each year, the global average carbon footprint is about 4 tons of CO2-eq per year. As part of a wider drive to reduce resource use, in 2009 INDUSA committed to cutting our per capita carbon emissions by 5% year on year.
‘INDUSA understands the need to be ‘greener’ and has implemented several measures to curb the carbon footprint. INDUSA commits to ‘being carbon neutral’ by looking at ways to increase its own energy efficiency, examining energy source alternatives and investing in projects that offset greenhouse gas emissions we cannot directly or indirectly eliminate’ Nandita said.
Initiatives for shrinking the carbon footprint include use of virtual meetings, reduction in travel by use of public transport, car sharing and avoiding flights; reduce paper consumption; recycle waste; use green suppliers; reduce energy use; and use of less water. INDUSA’s approach has been in making sustainability visible by concentrating on these initiatives; challenging the way how they work with partners and customers as well as changing habits for the good from time to time.
